The Future of Conservation

Technology has changed not only the way conservationists do their work, and it's made conservation accessible to anyone with a smartphone and a love of the outdoors and animals. Now anyone can make a contribution, but tech has also created some new challenges for scientists. Watch episode 3 to find out all about tech and the future of conservation.

Anyone Can Be a Conservationist

What Animal Left These Tracks?

Animals leave prints when they walk called tracks. Tracks are a great way to spot animals in your backyard, and acts like a guest book for all the animals who've visited your yard.

A Few Tips:

Front tracks are almost always bigger than rear tracks (called hind tracks). And when you're trying to decide between canines and felines, remember that canines (dogs, coyotes, foxes, and wolves) leave tracks that are longer than wide, which look rectangular. Felines (cats, bobcats, and on rare occasion cougars) tracks are as long as they are wide, so they look more square-like.
